Morrigan’s evolving exhibition was shown in our main gallery space in
March. Adam incorporates road kill into work that is about our
relationship with the living environment, our impact upon it and our
responses to the cycle of life and death. His creations dignify the salvaged remains of dead animals by poignantly re-presenting them as art. Tim Green exhibited here last
year in his solo show 'Something and Nothing' and Tim's DVD can still be
seen (and copies purchased) here at Quedgeley. Much of the work on show at Sabre is by artists David Hughes and Jackie John. David's main interest is painting, but some of his drawings can be viewed on this site. Jackie's work ranges from abstract to figurative, taking her themes from suggestions within the paint itself. The exhibition at Merchants Quay was rehung on the weekend of the 'Tall Ships'and has been updated regularly through 2008 ; it will remain on view for a few more months until planning applications to demolish the site have been heard. Ink drawings of Gloucester Docks by Geoff Howells have recently been placed on view and we recommend a visit to see them. Sabre Art and Gloucester Art Trail Calendar 2008 SEPTEMBER Life Drawing sessions in association with Modelled Me UK. We will be rolling back the studio walls for two life drawing and painting workshops on Sunday 28th September and Sunday 11th January 2009. These day long workshops are untutored but follow a structured pattern, led by inspiring, professional life models. Every artist or student is guaranteed a clear sight-line to the model, so places are limited. The cost for each session is just £30. Easels, back-boards and refreshments are included in the price and there is free on-site parking. Participants will need to bring their own materials and lunch. The studio is on the first floor and has no lift, so please check before booking if you have limited mobility. Modelled Me run sessions at other venues that may be more suitable for those with disabilities. If you would ike to book a place for either (or both) of the workshops, please contact courses@modelled.me.uk or mail@sabreart.co.uk PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SEPTEMBER SESSION IS FULLY BOOKED BUT WE CAN PUT YOUR NAME DOWN AS A RESERVE, IN CASE OF CANCELLATIONS. ________________________________________________________________________________ OCTOBER 18th - 26th ________________________________________________________________________________ NOVEMBER Roland Burra’s show will be opening at Sabre Art on Friday 7th November from 7pm -9pm. Roland has produced work for this show that ranges from highly complex geometric designs to single, iconic images. It’s all done with great skill and using a variety of media and technique. The show will be open 8th – 29th November, viewable Thurs- Sat 10am -5pm, or call to view. We hope you will come and support Roland by visiting the show and if you can make it for the P.V. you’ll be most welcome. We opened with champagne and will be closing (in terms of other artist shows) with cava – it’s a sign of the times, but it will be a celebration nonetheless! ______________________________________________________________________________ If you want to help the Gloucester Art Trail Organisation, please get in touch - there is no membership fee, we are a non-constituted, not-for-profit group that want to make a positive contribution to art and culture in Gloucester.
