Founded in 2005, Sabre Art is the working studio of artists David Hughes and Jackie John, (artist statements can be seen in galleries 1 & 2).
Sabre is situated on a modern industrial estate with good road access and free on-site parking. The large gallery space also provides exhibition and selling opportunities for other local artists working in a range of style and media. Sabre Art is currently the only independent gallery in Gloucester solely dedicated to exhibiting and selling original art by local artists and is entirely artist-led. Jackie and David also organise external exhibitions on a ‘not-for-profit’ and mutually supportive basis. They are founder members of the GLOUCESTER ART TRAIL ORGANISATION, along with fellow artist Trudi Ochiltree and aim to establish an annual visual art festival in the city by 2009. Events and a new website for this organisation are already underway and network partnerships are being forged. They are active members of Gloucester Artist Network (GANet) and work to promote the enjoyment and production of art in their area. An Artists Newsletter of events at Sabre and elsewhere locally is issued regularly to subscribers by e-mail, or can be seen on-line. David and Jackie welcome enquiries about their work and that of co-exhibitors; whether from galleries, businesses or individuals. Most of the artists will accept commissions and David and Jackie can often source local artists for a customer’s particular requirements, usually free of charge. Most of all, they hope people will visit the studio-gallery and support the exhibitions and events. Hope you enjoy the site, thank you for looking. |
